The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Soldier Center has an immediate opening for a Digital Graphic Artist to join our team in Natick, MA.

The Digital Graphic Artist is a full-time Term appointment not to exceed 2 years and may be extended. DEVCOM Soldier Center is a participant in the Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory (STRL) Personnel Management Demonstration Project. Commonly referred to as the Laboratory Demonstration Personnel System, or Lab Demo, this position is in the DE-02 pay band, equivalent to a GS-05 step 1, through a GS-11 step 10 grade level. Salary will be determined upon selection.
 
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) for STRL Mission Support to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
 
The ideal candidate should understand Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, WordPress, Microsoft Office 365. Desired but not required: Adobe Lightroom, After Effects, Adobe Substance 3D modeling package, Adobe Animate, Cinema 4D or other 3D Modeling software.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

The Solider Center's Media and Graphics Team has an opening for a Digital Graphic Artist to join a team of creative professionals charged with implementing the organizational strategic communication mission. Attention to detail, initiative, teamwork, and a creative imagination are key to success in this position.
 
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
 
  • Creating visual graphics, designs and information using advanced design skills in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator and Microsoft Office 365 Suite producing creative designs for both subject matter experts and non-technical audiences
  • Develop, design, and maintain the organizational website, collaboratively coordinating with internal customers to post and update content
  • Design and layout brochures, announcements, handouts, newsletters, signage, pitch materials, presentation templates, and other promotional materials
  • Coordinate with Public Affairs Office, security, and internal and external customers to execute external/internal strategic communication initiatives and priorities
  • Coordinate with customers during the developmental stages of visual presentation projects to help define objectives
  • Maintain digital files and manage finished digital products per the digital asset management policy
  • Perform authorized image manipulation, cropping, printing, framing, and finishing work
  • Operate various graphic equipment such as printers and laminators
  • Perform operator-level maintenance on visual information production equipment
  • Assist in developing new work methods and researching new equipment
  • Adhere to copyright law and ensure trademarks are honored
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines, sometimes within a tight timeframe
  • Coordinate with customers for the distribution of completed products including pick-up and shipping
  • Calculate cost estimates using defined cost models for labor and material expenses
  • Support photography and videography projects when required
  • Produce social media content when required
  • Coordinate with outside vendors on large projects and other work no completed in-house
