#AFC – Army Futures Command/ Artificial Intelligence Integration Center (AI2C) is hiring an Army Artificial Intelligence Integration Center Director, a Senior Scientific Technical Manager (SSTM) position, in Pittsburgh, PA. The individual will serve in a high-level senior management position that includes the opportunity for a temporary promotion.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Must have the ability to provide technical oversight and direction to the Artificial Intelligence Integration Center (AI2C).
  • Must have the ability to integrate and apply AI and Machine Learning (ML) research and solutions in accordance with other AFC organizations. 
  • Serves as a leading AI expert to help shape strategy and Research and Development (R&D) direction. As authorized by the AFC Deputy to the Commanding General, independently represents AFC as a lead for Artificial Intelligence (AI) outside the command, such as with Department of Army (DA) staff and secretariat, Office of Under Secretary (OUSD), and other major stakeholders. 
  • Must have the ability to identify, direct, and integrate AI R&D solutions in support of Army priorities, new technologies, and systems. Additionally, integrate AI R&D efforts with other centers/labs and industry partners to provide integration Army solutions. 
  • Must have the ability to partner with Future & Concepts Center (FCC) and other AI organizations to identify opportunities for AI to affect Army concepts and future doctrine.

To qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below: 

Applicant Evaluation: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications and positive education requirements to be eligible for this opportunity. Ideal applicants will have a degree in a scientific or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience with substantial background and experience in related research. Applicants will be evaluated on the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) needed for this position, including the following:

  • Science and Technology (S&T) Experience: Background is such that applicant has been directly involved in impactful mission execution of S&T or sought out as an advisor/consultant on significant S&T problems. Broad-based experience in S&T competencies relevant to Army foundational research or applied S&T is also considered a plus.
  • Research Management/Administration: Proven success in assessing, analyzing, acquiring, and administering resources to manage technical and administrative functions of a research and/or development program, organization, or other large-scale, high impact R&D effort. Provide strategic and technical guidance to facilitate and execute outcomes across all levels of the organization or team.
  • Communication/Integration:  Ability to effectively communicate and build partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders, partners and organizational levels to include senior-level leaders, both within and outside the organization. Provide strategic direction and guidance to diverse team members and groups to facilitate empowerment and difference-making outcomes.
