Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Incumbent serves as a senior engineer responsible for conducting, monitoring, directing, and coordinating testing and engineering activities on assigned technology areas
- on assigned technology areas which are applied across vehicle system lines and/or on emerging or fielded components, subsystems, and total systems.
- Activities may include investigating technology transfer/insertion, requirements and specification analysis, testing of hardware and software, test monitoring, evaluation of vehicle system or subsystem architecture and vehicle network analysis.
- Directs and participates in the preparation and execution of test plans, documentation, and schedules, as necessary for the overall planning and execution of the assigned program.
- Develops, reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations concerning priorities, schedules, and other program matters bearing on project/program assignments.
- Reviews and advises on preliminary design studies on new or improved items, components, and major subsystems, as well as engineering changes.
- Participates in and monitors testing and modeling /simulation activities.
- Prepares and reviews test plans, observes tests and analyzes test results.
- Assures that components, structures, software, electronics, electrical elements comprising the system are compatible with GCIA standards, and that engineering compromises in the vehicle/system design are necessary to system performance.
- Performs and evaluates engineering studies, such as operational and functional characteristics pertaining to assigned systems/components.
- As required, coordinates the work of other engineers in the performance of individual project or program assignments.
- Maintains close working relationship with engineering and management personnel within the government and at other commercial facilities to provide advice and assistance, resolve problems, exchange information, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
