Army Futures Command (AFC) is seeking students for paid internships in Austin, TX.

The Scientific, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Student Employment Program (SSEP) is an AFC program used to recruit, train, and develop current college students in undergraduate through post-graduate STEM programs. This is a developmental opportunity to gain valuable real world work experience with AFC. We are looking for the below areas of study from an undergraduate school. AFC as a Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory (STRL) is utilizing the Direct Hire Authority (DHA) to fill this position(s). This student authority allows for the noncompetitive conversion to competitive service.
REQUIRED AREA OF STUDY: Seeking a professional computer science or a related degree with a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. AND
GS-3 or Demo Equivalent: Completion of 1 full academic year (i.e. 30 semester hours) of post-high school study
OR
GS-04 or Demo Equivalent: Completion of 2 full academic years (i.e. 60 semester hours or more) of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree (i.e. associate's, bachelor's, master's, etc.)
Interns may work either part- or full-time.
Students may be appointed to a temporary or a flexible length student term appointment with a full-time or part-time work schedule. Students who successfully complete the program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent position at the discretion of AFC.
A travel allowance may be offered.
Pay setting rules and regulations will be applied based upon levels of experience and/or education. Locality pay will be determined by location. Under the DB-1 grade level, salary could range from $26,381 to $47,229, Austin, TX Locality.
- Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- U.S. Citizenship and at least 18 years of age
- This position has an education requirement. You MUST provide transcripts or an Official Letter of Enrollment to support your educational claims. An accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education must accredit education.
- Have a 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
- Be enrolled/accepted for enrollment in an undergraduate program leading to an appropriate degree.
- Be enrolled/accepted for enrollment in a 2-year program designed specifically for transfer to a 4-year institution under the same criteria listed above.
- Appointment may be subject to suitability[PEWCUAH(1] or fitness determination, as determined by completed background investigation.
- Interns may work either part- or full-time.
- Must sign a Participant Agreement
- Although not guaranteed, you must have a 3.0 GPA to convert to a permanent position.
