These positions are being filled utilizing the Direct Hire Authority to allow for appointment of qualified candidates possessing a bachelor or an advanced degree to professional scientific and engineering positions within The US Army Combat Capability Development Command (DEVCOM) Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC).
Job Description:
US Army DEVCOM AvMC, Structures & Materials Division of the Systems Readiness Directorate is looking for Engineer(s) to ensure flight safety through effective, airworthy, structural engineering with at least 3 years of experience in one or more of the following structural disciplines.
- Static stress analysis
- Fatigue analysis
- Fracture mechanics/crack growth analysis
- Fatigue test
- Structural flight test
- Elastomer structural substantiation
- Structural reliability
- Statistical analysis
Duties:
Work involves the application of structural engineering principles and state of the art practices to successfully design, develop, qualify, field, and support airworthy manned rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft. Engineering knowledge and skills required include structural design criteria, stress and loads analysis, fatigue analysis, fracture mechanics, finite element modeling, and statistical analysis techniques. Position defines and monitors ground and flight tests including fatigue, crack growth, static strength, flight loads survey, structural demonstration, and weapons firing. Work requires the ability to provide support to field units including input and review of airworthiness releases, evaluation and resolution of fielded system structural problems, and investigation of field incidents.Incentives: Student Loan Repayment, Advanced Leave Accrual, OR Relocation/Recruitment Incentives, may be offered.
