- The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Soldier Center has an immediate opening for an Interdisciplinary Engineer or Scientist to join our team of skilled professionals in Orlando, Florida. Made up of a diverse workforce comprised of scientists, engineers, technologists, and equipment designers, the DEVCOM Soldier Center provides a wide range of capabilities to the Soldier, to include field feeding and life support systems, clothing, precision air drop systems, and ballistic, chemical, and laser-protection systems.The Adaptive and Intelligent Training Systems Team within the Soldier Effectiveness Directorate is seeking a highly motivated engineer or scientist to coordinate and oversee day-to-day operations of research projects. The ideal candidate should have a master's degree or recently acquired Ph.D. who would like to join an innovative team of scientists and engineers researching and developing advanced training technologies for military applications. Our Center has financial support to cover tuition costs for employees who would like to pursue an advanced degree in an area of study foundational to our program of research. For exceptional candidates, remote work may be an option. Although candidates with an advanced degree are preferred, applicants with a bachelor's degree who are motivated to pursue an advanced degree are encouraged to apply.Candidates with a degree in the following disciplines should apply: Computer Engineering, Electrical, Electronics, General, Materials, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science. Additionally, Operations Research Analysts are eligible to apply for this vacancy.This position is being filled utilizing Direct Hire Authority appointment for Certain Personnel in the DoD Workforce. This is a Flexible Length Renewable Technical Term appointment not to exceed two (2) years and may be indefinitely renewed or made permanent without further competition.
- Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Duties include, but are not limited to the following:- Determine areas of research to increase knowledge in the field of adaptive learning and simulation- Plan and perform human-subjects experimentation focused on training and education technologies- Collect, manage, and analyze human-subjects' data- Collaborate with research teams, government stakeholders and agencies, and industry academic partners- Write and publish reports, manuscripts and proceedings papers- Manage and oversee projects with external collaborators- Present at conferences and symposiums- Design, develop and evaluate adaptive learning prototypes and solutions- Track and monitor trends in technology- Collaborate on the iterative design, prototyping, development, user testing, and documentationof advanced learning and training systems- Collect and analyze data (using data analytics/statistical/machine learning methods) to derive insightscontributing to educational or learning theory and drive improvements of training applications and learning analytic toolsBENEFITS: 11 Paid Federal Holidays; 13 days of annual leave (paid vacation days); 13 days of annual sick leave; Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance; eligibility for Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS); Thrift Savings Program (similar to 401K); eligible for Telework or Remote Work Agreement; Army Wellness Program.Duty Location: Sunny Orlando, Florida!
